Located
in Northern Michigan, the Old Mission Peninsula is perhaps Michigan's
most unique and scenic township. Unlike the typical six mile by
six mile square township, the Old Mission Peninsula is finger-like
in shape, projecting approximately 18 miles into Grand Traverse
Bay. The township varies from one to three miles in width and
contains approximately 54 miles of Great Lakes shoreline.
The Fire Department consists of 2 stations, under the direction
of ( 1 ) full time paid Chief and ( 1 ) full-time paid Assistant
Chief. Each station is operated by it's volunteer membership.
Old Mission Peninsula is protected both by Fire and EMS personnel.
The Peninsula Township Fire Department consists of an Engine,
Tanker, and Ambulance that responds out of each fire station.
Our Mission
The
Peninsula Fire & Rescue Association is a non-profit, 501(c)
(3) organization whose purpose is to provide support to the Peninsula
Township Fire Department. By sponsoring fund-raising events, like
our Pancake Breakfasts, and through donations from private citizens,
we are able to purchase equipment and support public education
programs for the Peninsula Township Fire Department.
Conceived
by members of the Peninsula Township Fire Department as a means
to purchase additional equipment and provide positive public relations,
the Peninsula Fire & Rescue Association accepts members from
our community who are interested in helping the fire department.
We are able to augment the departments annual budget by
supplying equipment and supporting public education programs throughout
our community. We also offer CPR and First Aid training to individuals
and civic groups in our area. Monies raised through our Pancake
Breakfasts and private donations have allowed us to continue to
support the fire department and its members.
Through
our efforts, the Peninsula Fire & Rescue Association has been
able to purchase many pieces of equipment for the Peninsula Township
Fire Department. Below is just a sample of the items given to
